Crispy Lentil & Rice Patties

These hearty and flavorful lentil patties are a perfect addition to any fasting meal. Made with simple, wholesome ingredients, they are packed with plant-based protein and aromatic herbs, making them both nourishing and satisfying. The combination of lentils and rice creates a deliciously crisp exterior while keeping the inside soft and tender.

These patties are great on their own, paired with a fresh salad, or served with a side of your favorite dipping sauce. They’re easy to prepare and perfect for making in batches—just fry them up and enjoy a warm, comforting bite straight from the pan.


Makes 12–14 patties | Serves 3–4

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups green lentils (soaked overnight)
  • 1.5 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 (0.5cup) medium onion
  • 1/4 cup fresh herbs (dill, parsley, or cilantro)
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, blend the soaked lentils and onion until well combined.

2. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add the cooked rice, chopped herbs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix thoroughly using your hands.

3. Form the mixture into round patties, pressing firmly to ensure they hold together.

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the patties in the pan and fry covered for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown. Tip: Avoid high heat, as the patties may cook too quickly on the outside while remaining undercooked inside.
  1. Transfer to a plate and enjoy immediately! These are best served hot.
